The Nuclear Medicine Research Center is a special building, built according to the highest requirements, designed by Lithuanian designers with the help of external consultants.It is the only building of this kind in Lithuania, and the medical equipment in it - the Cyclotron - is one of the most expensive purchases of the Lithuanian health system. It serves as a production facility for radioactive medicine needed to perform positron emission tomography.

The building is located next to the complex of buildings managed by the Kaunas Clinics - in the sub-zone of visual protection, so special attention is paid to its architecture. The two-story building, with its strict forms, blends harmoniously into the general context of the clinics.
The architecture of the building is modern, its distinctive feature is the irregular windows, which are expressive and dominant. Protruding window frames are aluminum composite panels that further emphasize the architectural expression of the building.
The functional solutions of the building are special. The room equipped with the cyclotron is like a bunker with especially thick walls and ceilings. That is due to a very large amount of ionizing radiation, so it is important that the people who work with it are as protected as possible.
In addition to the cyclotron room, there are also PET rooms, doctor's offices, procedure rooms, drug supply and preparation areas, auxiliary and technical rooms.
The building structures are rational, economically sound, strong and durable, designed taking into account the building's functional purpose. The facade is distinguished by unconventionally shaped windows and cozy lighting.
